Congrats to Brian Stann who looked unreal in his second round victory by KO, earning him fight of the night on Memorial Day weekend. Also, please continue to vote for Russell Martin as All-Star catcher. He leads the voting right now, but needs all the support possible. Also a big welcome to NHL all-star Kris Letang from the Pens. He's already a stud. After a summer of training he will be a monster. I'm leaving for Vancouver this week, with a heavy heart, because I'll be missing my boy Nordine Taleb fight the same night. He's in the best shape of his life. I'll be speaking sunday morning at Tactix Gym.

Big Week
Fri, 06 May 2011 21:13:00 +0000

It’s been a great week. I spent five days in Toronto with many guys on UFC 129 card. It was monumental with the first ever card in Toronto. Even the weigh-ins had 10 thousand fans come to watch. It was an unreal atmosphere, the city was jumping. It was a great night of fights. I'm so proud of all the guys: Yves, Bull, Ivan and Rory. They all looked amazing and I was so happy with their shape and performances. GSP fought through adversity and even though it wasn't his greatest performance, he showed true grit and pulled through.

The next day I shot for ESPN. I had one show with Derrick Brassard of the Blue Jackets and Dwayne De Rosario of the NY Redbulls in MLS, a past MVP. It was a fun day and I'm looking forward to the final product.

Hey guys

Sorry for being inactive. You have my word, I will update every week.

Let's just get us up to date. It's been a crazy month. Hope everyone is enjoying the videos. I will post more when I can.

Six Star Nutrition is in Montreal filming a lot this week and shooting pics. I'm really excited to be part of their team and brand. Can't wait to see how the shots come out. You'll be seeing my ugly mug more often.

Last couple of weeks of training before April 30th in Toronto. It's going to be insane. I'll be at the fan expo. Come say hello!

Big Update at APC!
Mon, 21 Feb 2011 15:46:00 +0000

A lot was happened in last few weeks. I promise not to let things go too long without an update.

Here’s a quick recap.

-I was in Las Vegas for Brian Stann and Clay Guida, one with a wicked KO and other submission of the night. It was a great night and trip.

-New T-shirts came out, will be online soon. They’re awesome.

-It’s been a long week and a half. I went to Denver for a children’s charity. It was tough seeing kids in such bad shape, but it was one of the most fulfilling days putting smiles on their faces. I had a quick two days of training, then off to New Mexico

-I went especially for Rashad Evans, Keith Jardine, Carlos Condit, Kyle Noke plus all other Jackson's boys who have big fight coming up. GSP was there with me with Christophe Midou. Unfortunately Rashad had a freak injury forcing him to pull out of his fight for title.

-Fast forwarding to saturday, where we were in Las Vegas for Jon Jones, Cowboy and Miguel Torres. Jon Jones looks unreal and now he gets title shot.

-I stayed the extra two days in Las Vegas. I met some great people, one being Charles Backley, who was a surprising gentleman.

-I filmed 3 episodes for an ESPN Show, Urijaa Faser, Russell Martin and Roger Saffold, all great guest on show.

-I’m back in Montreal now, right back to work. Congrats to John Cholish on his great Strikeforce win.

-APC store will be up soon. Stay tuned!

It's been a nice few weeks back in Montreal. Clay Guida and Brian Stann both got the year off to a great start - both huge wins in VEgas and impressive performances. Also, with the card announced, Toronto will be keeping us super busy. GSP, Rory MacDonald, Yves Jabouin, John "Bull" Makdessi, Sean Pierson, Claude Patrick and Ivan Menjivar all on the card. It will be a fun memorable night for sure. It's been fun going into the magazine stores and seeing myself in a bunch of mags this month. Men's Fitness, Inside Fitness, Fighters Only, Fighting Fit and Maximum Fitness. Thanks for all the support guys. Also, thanks to my new management group ALCHEMIST. They really make me feel welcome to the family.

Lots of updates!

First blog in a while, I apologize. So much is going on, I'll try and recap. I had Greg Jackson and Phil Nurse come in to help out GSP for his December 11th fight. It was great spending time with Greg, training everyday, and just being around one of my best friends. Rashad Evans also came in and again, great seeing not only a great athlete but also a great friend. Yves Jabouin looked awesome winning his WEC fight, congrats Yves! As did Alex Garcia winning his fight, both guys dominated. While Alex won, the night was bittersweet as Jonathan Goulet lost and announced his retirement. It was a pleasure being a part of the ride road warrior.

As I'm writing this I'm on a plane home from New Mexico where I came to visit Greg at Jackson's MMA. It was a pleasure working with some new faces. Joe Stevenson, Clay Guida, Michael Johnson among new ones. Brian Stann, Kyle Noke, Carlos Condit, Joey Villasenor, Cowboy, Leonard, Damacio, the list goes on. This team is #1 in the world year in year out for many reasons, but family is what sets them apart.

Look Inside Fitness Magazine, UFC Mag, both with huge features - even Men's Fitness with a little feature as well!

APC Update

It was a great week for me and will only get better. A great athlete and friend made a short visit this week and it really made my weekend. King MO Lawal came into Montreal for the first time and had a blast with him. Got a little training in, watched UFC, and caught up. UFC brought no surprises to me, as CAIN becomes World Champ. I’m very happy for him, Dave Camarillo and Daniel Cormier – two great coaches. I hope Shain Carwin heals up quick and makes a run at Cain.

A good friend Sebastien Simard got married and we attended a beautiful wedding. Congrats to him and his wife Johanne.

This week at APX we welcome a great coach and friend Greg Jackson, fitness model Laura Prestin and a few other great surprises.

It is more and more in the common knowlege that MMA athletes are not only rage addicts or violent beeings! Salut Bonjour admits that professional MMA training is of Olympic level! Daniel Melançon interviewed Jonathan Goulet 'The Road Warrior' to demistify the sport to a more general audience and tries the training himself at Adrenaline Performance Center with Jonathan Chaimberg. The interview (in French) demonstrates the hard preparation and versatility needed to be ready for a fight. Enjoy!

Back from Ottawa
Sun, 17 Oct 2010 20:14:00 +0000

This past week brought tons of events and memories. I celebrated my birthday in Ottawa doing a charity event for the Special Olympics. It was a great feeling helping out. I'd like to thank Nabil Khatib for inviting me. Although he thinks I was doing him and his cause a service, it was him who gave me a very happy birthday present.

Another great birthday gift was the news that John "The Bull" Makdessi will be on the December 11th card for UFC Montreal. I've been with John for a long time and proud of him like you can't imagine.

Another fun surprise was having Russel Martin at the gym. Baseball is a sport We rarely see now here, especially an all-star catcher from California. Who would want to spend Fall and Winter in Montreal especially when you live in sunny California? Either way, it will be fun helping him out this off-season. Thanks to his friend and training partner Gabriel Rossi or bringing him by.

Also, congrats to Carlon Codit or stopping Dan Hardy rd1 ;-) It’s so nice a seeing a guy so well prepared to fight, go in and perform.

Back from Denver!
Fri, 01 Oct 2010 17:33:00 +0000

On the plane ride back from Denver where I had a great week training guys and as a bonus got to see two of my guys have great winning performances:  “Cowboy” Donald Cerrone earning fight of the night and Miguel Torres earning sub of the night. I’m very proud of them both.  I’m also very proud of Firas. It’s fun to see people grow not only as athletes but as coaches. We were both there over three years ago after GSP lost to Serra, and we’ve worked with many fighters together and he’s starting to come into his own as a coach.  It was fun seeing Trevor Whittman who runs Grudge Training Center, and is a tremendously striking coach.

Some other highlights were training Shane Carwin again for the first time in close to a year. Shane is seriously one of the truest most genuine people I know, and his wife Lani has taught me so much about family, friendship, and being true to yourself. Shane got off track a bit with three straight fights being cancelled  (Cain and Brock twice) and he lost a bit of focus. He’s the first to blame himself, but he’s back on focus now and man do I not envy his first victim.

Was great seeing James McSweeney, he’s in great shape, and it was fun seeing Brendan and Nate. Last but not least, hanging with one of my close friends Greg Jackson who is the definition of a leader.

The weekend will be fun as well as Rashad is in town and we’ll get some training in.  I’ve got a UFC Magazine photo shoot, and Kenny and Jon Jones are here as well. Nice way to start the month. We’ll have new classes and some new instructors at the gym, so get excited about that.
